Stevie Nicks sings "Crash" by Dave Matthews!

So, I have to say there are few humans on this earth that I believe have a voice that is, in and of itself, an instrument. Stevie Nicks is one of them.(along with Alison Kraus, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston-pre crack, Van Morrison...) Dave Mathews is another. Tonight, I watched WTTW's SoundStage play part 1 of a concert by Stevie. The very fact that she is still evolving and recognizes both the whimsical lyrics and her ability to bring them to life; astounds me.

She holds a special place in my heart. She is my childhood, I played "Landslide" at my father's funeral. Equally, DMB represents the youthful bravery of falling in love. Coy unabashed, unapologetic lust in a time of coming of age in love, relationships and sex.

Sit back, turn up your computer, and revel in the beauty of Stevie's haunting voice singing the playful words of "Crash" (into me).

"Sweet like candy to my soul; sweet you rock, and sweet you roll....Hike up your skirt and show your world to me..."

Come crash into me. (deep exhale)

I Tivo this show as well! To funny! I watched part of the Stevie show, have to finish watching it. For some reason, the last few Soudstages have been taping with glitches in the video. I wonder if you're seeing the same thing. I actually emailed Soundstage to see if maybe they may know about the problem. If it's not their issue then maybe it's my Tivo. I doubt it though because every other show I Tivo has been taping properly. Who knows. Kind of cool to know someone else who watches both SYTYCD and Soundstage. Have you ever seen "Breakfast with the Arts" or "Live from Abbey Road?" Those two shows are excellent as well (if you like Soundstage you'll like the other two).

Anyway, was reading your blog posts and simply had to comment. :)

Stevie Nicks has a great voice. I love "Landslide" - brings a tear to my eye every time.

Random music trivia tidbit - Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins only does original material, except for Landslide. He was so inspired by that one song, he taught himself the guitar part and recorded it. Not quite like Stevie, but enjoyable.

Billy also did "To Love Somebody," by The Bee Gees (or was it a Michael Bolton cover) on his solo album.

Either way, he should stick to covering Fleetwood Mac. Imagine Billy and a marching band covering 'Tusk'!
